The Propylene Recovery Unit ( of Abadan Refinery has been designed and constructed based on separating propylene from other heavier components in the feed using two distillation columns The objective of this unit is to recover propylene with 95 purity from the top of the first column The remaining components in the feed, containing about 7 propylene, are withdrawn .as a liquid stream from the bottom of the second distillation column
In this project, after evaluating various options, modifications were implemented in the existing unit so that by adding another distillation column to the current system, the production of polymer grade propylene 99 5 became feasible In this configuration, the olefin content in the propane stream withdrawn from the bottom of the column is less than 3.
The basic engineering and design services of the new system, aimed at producing polymer grade propylene from the top of the column and propane with 97 purity from the bottom, are undertaken by Ali Nam Engineering Company.
